I am flying for the first time in a few years and I am petrified. I do not want to take Valium or any other medications so I am looking for alternatives to keep me calm (no…deep breathing probably won’t help me!).

…Any suggestions?

I have social anxiety disorder; I was diagnosed about 3 years ago. I have tried medication and therapy, but I don’t like how the medication makes me feel and I would like to find an alternative to therapy. How do you combat negative thoughts and face your fears in social situations? One negative thought in particular I am having difficulty with is the constant fear that my boyfriend is cheating on me. How do I get rid of this?

lets say I have this “friend” who is bipolar. He has taken his medication for a long time, but decides to quit. He wants to stay in good mental health, but would like alternatives to using drugs. what can he do? I’m hoping to find first hand experience with alternative solutions, from people who may have bipolar disorder. thanks.

I’ve suffered from panic/anxiety attacks for about a year now. They are brought on by aches and pain, or stress at work (I’m a retail manager). Those who have suffered from attacks before understand that even though you know you are fine, your body tells you something different and it’s so hard to calm down. I want some natural alternatives, rather than taking medication. I don’t have money to go to a pyschologist, so I’m searching for other methods of keeping calm. Any suggestions/sources, especially from those who have personal experience, would be great. I need ideas to prevent them, and ideas to treat them when I have them. Thanks for your help. Serious answers only please.
BTW- I was on lexapro for 6+ months and took klonopin when needed, but I don’t want to go that route again. I don’t want to be on medication ;)

i was diagnosed as bipolar over five years ago. it’s been a rollercoaster but i spend much more time in my manic stage (which i mostly enjoy) than my depressed cycle. i stopped therepy a while ago when they started talking about medication. i am not a big fan of western medecine as it has killed off more people i know than anything else combined. are there any alternatives to lend more balance to myself?

An extremely close freind of my suffers from manic depressant and is also Bi-polar. I want to help her and the only way that i can think to do that is i have to know and understand more about these two disorders. Someone please help me, what causes mood swing, what triggers them, how can i help comfort and stabalize her mood swings. What are some natural alternatives besides perscription medication to help with these disorders. any information, tips, website links would greatly be appreciated.
